The study of economics develops the understanding of market, analysing the industry trends. The subject also provides valuable insights into various public policies and economic reforms like taxation, trade, globalisation, privatisation, liberalisation and balance of payment.The Department of Economics was established in year 2001 at ONS Government Degree College, Devprayag. The Department of Economics aims to provide students with comprehensive understanding of economic principles, theories and practices. It seeks to equip students with analytical skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities to tackle complex economic issues. The Economics Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. The postgraduate program was established in the year 2022. Economics is also taught as a vocational and minor elective paper to students from other disciplines as well.
